Rising Phoenix 2020

 A number of Paralympic athletes share inspiring stories about their career journey in the world of sports. Beatrice Vio, also known as Bebe Vio, is one of the inspirational figures to be appointed in the documentary film produced by Netflix, Rising Phoenix. At the age of 15, Bebe Vio won a gold medal in fencing at the Paralympics held in Montreal, Canada, Bebe describes the struggles he went through before finally winning the title.

 Apart from Bebe Vio, this documentary film will also present the story of Jean-Baptiste Alaize, a French runner who won the world title at the age of 23. Similar to other Paralympic athletes, Jean-Baptiste also had to face various life troubles amidst his disability, Jean-Baptise became a victim of the outbreak of conflict in Burundi.

 This tragedy caused one of his legs to be amputated. When he was growing up, a running coach saw the potential that existed in Jean-Baptiste. From here, his work in the world of athletics began.  Rising Phoenix will also present the history of the Paralympic event which was first initiated by neurologist Sir Ludwig Guttmann.
