Laura Harring portrays the American wife of Mark (John Hannah), a man who owns a ranch in South Africa. He’s killed in a car accident, after a bad omen involving a hyena, and she soon finds out that she’s pregnant. She has the kid—and suspects that it’s possessed by the spirit of her dead husband.
There are some unsettling scenes, such as when the baby bites her nipple to a bloody mess when she’s breast feeding, and when it’s able to speedily crawl around and even stand up, though he’s only a few months old.
What I don’t understand are these movies when a character dies, a character who wasn’t even to begin with, and comes back wanting the death of their loved one. The only way she gets rid of her husband’s spirit is to tell him she doesn’t love him---and he’s able to go to the spirit world. Directed by Lamberto Bava, whose track record isn’t that great to begin with.
