We all know Japanese Anime art is rapidly growing and expanding across the West and worldwide.
We Otaku watch and devour endless volumes of movies, music, TV, videos, cartoons, DVDs and more. We all have our favourites.
But what did the Japanese fans themselves vote as the top 10 of all time?
For the 10th anniversary of the Japan Media Arts Festival, fans were asked to vote on the top ten best of all time. Over 80,000 votes were received in the anime category, and just under 79,000 in the manga category. People were allowed to vote for up to 10 titles.
The Top 10 Hot Anime are:
1. Neon Genesis Evangelion (TV)
2. Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (movie)
3. Laputa: Castle in the Sky (movie)
4. Mobile Suit Gundam (TV)
5. Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro (movie)
6. Mushi-Shi (TV)
7. Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (TV)
8. My Neighbor Totoro (movie)
9. Fullmetal Alchemist (TV)
10. Ghost in the Shell (movie)
So as much as we love Naruto and Bleach in the West, they never made it onto Japan's best list. It looks like we all enjoy the popularity of Ghost in the Shell, Fullmetal Alchemist, and most of all, Neon Genesis Evangelion - both in the West and East.
